Our favorite tools & resources

We have oh so many resources  and ways to learn for you here, but we're always getting asked about some of our favorites and what we're using. So today we're rounding up some of our top favorites that we rely on for our blogs. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but just some of the essentials.

Blog - Website & Design

Siteground Hosing

We LOVE siteground for our self-hosted wordpress site. They have a range of plans, and their support is pretty amazing — totally needed if you're not tech savvy. We've never had issues or downtime, which is really essential.

Theme Forest - Themes & Plugins

Theme forest has all kinds of themes & plugins that are searchable based on exactly what you're looking for. It's out go-to spot for adding extra functionality to our site via a plugin and is where we bought our theme. It's actually part of Envato Market which offers almost everything you need for your blog — from intro music to video intros to graphics and even stock photos.

This has to be one of our favorite plugins. Milotree is a little popup that cycles through all your social media channels and prompts your visitors to like you profiles. It also has an email entry form you can use to grow your list. It let's you set frequency so it doesnt pop up everytime for a returning user.  You can also catch our episode all about popups and this plugin with Milotree founder Jillian Leslie.

Social Media

We love to be able to plan out our social media so we can keep our content calendar on track. Here are some of our favorite tools for that:

Probably our #1 tool for social, Planoly lets you drag and drop images to plan out your feed, add captions and save hashtag lists and even set the post to auto-post. You can also plan out stories on the app. For influencers, they have an affiliate program called stylelink.it which has all kinds of affiliate links and creates a shoppable feed that you can link to in your bio. You can also catch our Episode with Planoly's founder, Brandy Pham.

Pinterest is an amazing traffic source and essential for getting eyes on your blog. We love Tailwind for automating our pinning and spreading it out so we aren't pinning 20 things one day and then going dark. It allows you to schedule to group boards as well as your own, plus you get access to tribes — which is like a group board that runs in the background. Everyone in the tribe shares their pins then pins others' content. You also get super helpful statistics and insight about growing your account. Check out our episodes with the amazing gals from pinterest HERE (Pinterest Strategy) and HERE (Tailwind Strategy).

Social Pilot

We use Social Pilot to schedule all our other social media posts to Twitter, the Facebook page and Facebook group, and even Linked in. You get a lot for free — something like 20 posts per day, 10 accounts hooked up, and 30 posts scheduled out. So if you're doing just a little bit of scheduling or are going on vacation, the free plan is perfect for you. If you need more, it's just $10 a month.

Content Creation

Creative Market

This is a one-stop shop for blog design elements. Creative market has fonts, stock photos, instagram story templates, social media templates, and much more. They also sell things in bundles and there are a few great packs for things like stock photos and IG templates. Plus, they have 6 free things every week you can download and use.

We LOVE Canva. It's an online platform for graphic design and its so easy to use. Just pick a template then click and drag to create. You can do a ton with the free version - like create social graphics, creating your media kit, etc. The monthly subscription includes extra options like being able to upload your own custom fonts and getting access to a library of stock images and graphics for free.

We made our business cards with MOO and are in love. They have all sorts of designs and templates and even offer unique looks like a square card. They also let you create decks with multiple backs so not every card in the stack has to look the same. These are perfect for handing out at in-person networking events. You can use this link to get 20% off your first order.

Muses App

The Muses app brings together all kinds of influencers and creatives and lets everyone post opportunities for ways to collaborate. It's free to download and a great way to browse opportunities and connect with people you can collab with. We also did a whole episode with Shirley, the founder of Muses.
