A guest post by Ashlyn of White After Labor Day
How did you get started as a social influencer?
It wasn’t actually intentional. I just started with a personal Instagram account sharing my daily outfits, meals, travels, etc. I started gaining a lot of followers and traction and realized that people outside of those I know “in real life” were interested. This inspired me to start sharing on a regular basis and make my account public.
What was the inspiration behind your name?
So many people focus their energy on what others will think of them. Comparison is the thief of joy, and I’ve always prided myself on “doing me” and not worrying about what others will think. I decided to name my platform “White After Labor Day” because it goes against the social “norms.” For fashion, it tends to be a no-no to wear the color white after Labor Day. However, it isn’t about what people think; it’s about what YOU love. If you love it wear it... if you like it get it, etc.
What inspires your personal style?
I tend to wear only neutrals or pale color palettes. That’s just my own personal preference and what I feel aligns best with my brand. I don’t focus on any particular labels or stores when shopping. I shop everywhere from Target to Barney’s, thrift stores to high-end consignment. If I like something, I buy it regardless of the cost.
You have a huge social media presents, do you ever think you'll add a blog to that? Why or why not?
I get this question a lot. Personally, I made the decision to focus my energy on my social platforms rather than creating a blog. I have found a lot of success in doing so and don’t believe that a blog is something I’m interested in pursuing at this time.
What are some of your favorite Spring/Summer trends this year?
I love the basket trends. I know that basket bags will be HUGE this spring and summer. I also love big hats and slip-on sandals. Cut off shorts and OTS tops.

How do you juggle traveling all the time while still living your normal everyday life? Plus, with now adding on wedding planning to the mix!
You have to be on a schedule. I dedicate a portion of my day to working, whether I’m traveling or not. Typically when I’m traveling, I work first thing in the morning and again right before bed.
The same goes for wedding planning. I have my normal workday and I dedicate a certain number of hours per week to the planning of my wedding.
You actually run loops to help grow organic followers that we've both been apart of - What do you think is the biggest benefit from your's compared to the huge follower gain loops?
I spend a great deal of time ensuring that all accounts that participate in my loops have an engaged and authentic following. I curate my loops to be sure that each account is within the same genre and aesthetic. I now also require that in order to join, you must be a RewardStyle member that actively uses their Like To Know It account.
What are some do's and don'ts when it comes to growing your following?
Again I stress, DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS. Can I should this from the rooftops? The success that someone else is having doesn’t hinder the potential for your success. There is plenty to go around if you’re willing to work hard for it.
